Hypnotherapy applies focused concentration, which facilitates an altered,
yet natural, state of awareness to enhance healing. This state is similar to pre-sleep or pre-awakening, focusing on an engrossing
book, or listening to favorite music. Hypnotherapy circumvents conscious barriers to gain access to one's subconscious
processes, though his or her conscious mind is always present and aware, watching, and able to respond as appropriate.
To guide a person's journey inward, hypnotherapy has several components: i.e, relaxation, guided imagery, and
therapeutic suggestion. For some this experience may have a quality of detachment and observance as the innate healing becomes
active.
The therapist's suggestions align with a person's highest healing, ease the safe release of
old patterns and beliefs, and instill new and healthy patterns, mutually agreed to be safe and appropriate. When permitted,
the therapist may include the connection with an Inner Guide, Master Healer/Guardian, and/or one's Inner Self to safeguard
and guide the healing process. S/he also ensures time for full evaluation prior to and "debriefing" after the therapy
itself.
Clinical Hypnotherapy activates the physical healing processes responding to dis-ease. For example,
images such as strong and tireless agents or bottom-feeding catfish enhance the natural defensiveness of white blood cells
against cancer cells. Therapeutic suggestions affirm healthy patterns and anchor the healed state of wholeness.
Hypnotherapy may be integrated with other healing practices uniquely appropriate for each individual.
